When it pertains to detoxing , people seem to think it's a quick way to lose weight . Even though we may lose weight while doing a detox , keeping it off is another matter altogether . We need to think of detoxing as a way to refresh and cleanse our body from the inside and not as a diet plan .
Now , I'm hardly a professional at this , the only time I've done a detox involved eating nothing but grapefruit or drinking tons of just plain water . Since I wanted to create a lifestyle of healthy living , I thought of doing one .
The last thing I wanted is to do is a store bought detox with artificial ingredients . I like this new version that has been floating through the news feed consisting of all natural , fresh ingredients to add to a pitcher of water . In fact , I have found three which I will post the recipes for at down at the bottom .
The first one I tried consisted of a pitcher of water , lemon slices , mint leaves and cucumber slices . You allow it to sit for at least 24 hours and drink throughout the day . I found the cucumbers are prominent in the taste along with the mint leaves and leave a little aftertaste . I did find it worked the best with cleansing your body since it involved a lot of burping , passing gas , left me bloated and visiting the bathroom .
The second one consisted of a pitcher of water , lemon slices and mint leaves . This was the best in refreshing taste ! I could definitely drink this during those hot summer days . It tasted like a refreshing glass of lemonade and I read somewhere how lemons were great for cancer . Double benefits .
The third one consisted of a pitcher of water , lemon slices , mint leaves , tangerine slices and grapefruit . Very tasty and very refreshing ! I think this one had the best in flavor . It was easy to forget that this was a detox because of the flavor.
Whether it works well or not , it can't hurt . There aren't any artificial ingredients here , just the intake of vitamins is a plus . Since I drink a lot of water anyway , might as well add in some natural vitamins to boost my body's health level .
Recipe 1:
To boost weight loss --
Ingredients: 2L water, 1 medium cucumber, 1 lemon, 10-12 mint leaves.
Steep overnight in fridge and drink every day. Also great for general detox--including clear skin!
Recipe 2 :
You should drink at least three 8 oz glasses per day, they say the longer it sits, the better it tastes. You can eat them as well but they are intended as flavoring and still work, so that is a personal choice. The Vitamin C turns fat into fuel, the tangerine increases your sensitivity to insulin , and the cucumber makes you feel full. Try it for 10 days and see what you think!
Ingredients per 8 oz serving
Water
1 slice grapefruit
1 tangerine
½ cucumber, sliced
2 peppermint leaves
Ice – as much as you like

Slice the lemon and combine with water and mint leaves . Leave overnight to seep in .
Even if it really has no effect for detoxing , I find the drinks very refreshing during these summer season . Have a Blessed day everyone .
