Preparing For A Nesting Day

                                                                 Everyday is a brand new day,
                                                                 everyday is a journey.

It is not happiness I seek,
Its name I hardly dare to speak;
It is not made for man or earth,
And Heaven alone can give it birth.
There is a something sweet and pure,
Through life, through death it may endure;
With steady foot I onward press,
And long to win that Blessedness.
LOUISA J. HALL

Well, we got a huge surprise when we walked into work Monday morning. They announced that the upcoming Friday would be a shutdown day for the facility. Well, well, well. What to do with this unexpected gift from above?

My first thought was to spend the morning cleaning out the wardrobe closets. They definitely needed some de-cluttering. We always seem to be holding on to clothes that don't fit, hoping that one day by magic we will be able to slip into them. It's the same thing with shoes we never wear anymore. Our closets are overflowing. Just how many of those things do we really wear? We need to give it up already, folks.

Then I had a sudden change of heart. One of my big problems, lies in my not knowing when to let go and be still. I always feel guilty if I am not being productive in some way. As if I need to account for every minute of the day. Honestly, you can't blame me. There is plenty of truth in the saying Idle hands are the devil's playground.

Lately, I've been battling fatigue, with my body needing a nap every day. I cannot do that since I am at work. I think the best decision for me would be to take a day for myself and relax. So this Friday, I plan on getting up early and preparing the day's meal ahead of time. This way I won't have to cook later on. No laundry, cleaning or running around. When I pick up Emily at 10 a.m., that will be the start of my nesting day. I will lay on the bed, crocheting my little heart out while binge watching YouTube, P.B.S. and Netflix. That is my idea of relaxation. Even my snacks will be prepared ahead of time.

I love these kind of days. When I was younger, I didn't take any time off for myself. Well, look how that ended? Stage 3 ovarian cancer, that's how! Even the amount of sleep I get nowadays is nothing to how it was back then. I think we all are guilty of not taking care of ourselves.  Our health is not something that we can play around with and what's worse, we feel we can handle it!
I will be okay. It's just something that's going around, that's all. yeah, right. Take some time to pamper yourself.
